Amazonas satellite, the Eurostar 3000s version, was constructed by Astrium, of EADS group, the same company that manufactured Hispasat’s 1A and 1B satellites. It was launched by ILS through PROTON M Breeze M, in Kazakhstan, in August 4th, 2004.

Some data:

Dry mass: 2135 Kg
Wet mass: 4605 Kg
Life: 15 years
Payload: 7.5 kW DC
Maximum EIRP: 52 dBW (Brazil)

Located in the orbital position 61º W, it consists of 27 C-band transponders and 36 Ku-band transponders (with a 36 MHz capacity).

Six Ku-band transponders (with a 36 MHz capacity) serves the AMERHIS system, which operates as an onboard multimedia platform, per transponder, enabling user interconnection with a single hop. The system does not need the use of Master equipment (Hub) since the complete signal multiplexing is carried out on board the satellite, thus reducing the cost of ground equipment, as well as optimizing the band since only one carrier may serve the 4 coverage zones (Brazil, South America, North America and Europe).
