Hispamar provides its Ku-band multimedia platform in the market, through Satellite Amazonas.

This solution will makes possible broadband Internet access with two-way data, voice and video transmission through a safe and exclusive connection for different markets in Brazil, the Americas and Europe, with on demand services.

Hispamar’s multimedia platform will support virtually all IP applications, including Web Browsing, E-mail, VoIP, Videoconference, File Transfer, Content Distribution and others.

The system will be based on shared Hub and small-diameter remote stations, with satellite-based return channel and band optimization. These features provide connection services all throughout the country with quality and at competitive prices.

Rates of up to 2 Mbps for return and 6 Mbps for download enable more critical and quality-sensitive applications, such as images transmitted effectively and ensured by redundant HUB.
In addition to an integral coverage of the entire country, the privileged orbital position of Hispamar will launch its Ku-band multimedia platform operated through H1D and Amazonas satellite, which will be available in abril 2004.

The technology of choice is DVB- RCS open standards. The DVB standard was designed as a broadcasting service for multiple users. The satellite communication version, DVB-S, has a satellite return channel (SRC) and therefore, does not depend on the telephone line or any other physical means on ground. The DVB-RCS system is scalable and has a single gateway.

The system, with distributed gateway architecture, will be able to provide integrated services to thousands of users.

Nera Telecomunicações has been hired to supply the multimedia platform, the management system and the remote terminals.

Alcatel Space was hired to supply the Teleport (ground station).
Based on the platform utilities already existing in Spain, the services offered by Hispamar with this new platform include complete redundancy. The two available platforms on board 1D and Amazonas satellites, including the current platform in Spain, will also be served by 2 Control Centers, 2 Teleports (ground stations), in addition to the 2 referred satellites.
