Hispamar shows Amazonas' application at the 2005 Futurecom

With its coverage over the entire American continent, the satellite is the first with an on-board processing system for the region.

Hispamar Satellites participates at the 2005 Futurecom from October 25 thru 27. This is the third year the company is at the event. This time, besides the Amazonas satellite, launched in August 2004, the company will show new applications based on the DVB-RCS Broadband Multimedia Platform and on the Amerhis on-board processing platform. The Amazonas is the only satellite on the continent to use this technology.

At the company's stand, located at A54 in the Center South section of the Convention Center, visitors to Futurecom will be able to watch a comparison between conventional and high definition (HDTV) video signal transmissions. The new technology is already available via satellite and will begin to be commercialized for subscription TV channels (Direct to home) throughout the world.

Hispamar will also transmit the event's main lectures over the Internet. This transmission, unprecedented at the event, will be carried out over the Amazonas satellite and the DVB-RCS Platform applications with MPEG 4 compression. All lectures held at the Atlântico Auditorium can be watched from the company's stand, or on the site www.hispamar.com.br.

Sérgio Chaves, Hispamar's National Commercial Director, shall also address two topics in his lecture entitled “The Development of HDTV and Broadband Via Satellite – Coverage and capacity ensure competitiveness”, scheduled for the 27th, at 10:50AM, at the Atlântico Auditorium.

The Amazonas is the only satellite with coverage over the entire American continent, part of Europe and Africa over the C and Ku Bands. Launched in August 2004, the satellite is already with more than 60% of total capacity being occupied. This is an occupation record for a new orbital position.
