Telemar and Its Participation in AMAZONAS

With the aim of strategically consolidating from Brazil a large Latin American satellite communications operator, HISPASAT and TELEMAR, the Brazilian fixed telephony operator for Northern and Eastern Brazil, established several agreements for the development of the AMAZONAS project.
These agreements include Telemar’s leasing the new satellite’s C Band satellite capacity, as well as its acquisition of 20% of the company’s shares.

HISPAMAR Satélites thus becomes the preferred supplier for TELEMAR’s space segment, not only for the C Band, but for the Ku Band as well.

HISPAMAR Satélites and TELEMAR are already finalizing the project for transferring their services to AMAZONAS. At the same time, HISPAMAR Satélites is also working with TELEMAR to develop new services, especially those destined for corporate and wideband networks.

Therefore, when speaking of TELEMAR and its participation in the AMAZONAS project, it is necessary to point out that we are referring to the largest telephony company in South America. It currently makes extensive use of the satellite to provide communications services. It operates exactly in the region with less communication infrastructure, such as the Amazon, which makes the AMAZONAS satellite an extremely important instrument for its strategic and business development.
